Any Torah-learning and/or prayer on behalf of a deceased individual is significant; however, traditionally, the shloshim and yahrtzeit are commemorated with the completion of the study of all Shishah Sidrei Mishnah (six orders of Mishnah), coupled with daily recitation of kaddish; however, many other meaningful alternatives exists, as well.
